BIO: Tim is a CISO & Security Practice Manager as well as an accomplished and dedicated IT professional with over 25 years of experience in all aspects of IT. He started in IT operating DEC VAX/VMS systems, Windows servers and some of the earliest Linux releases. His first industry certification was as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. During this time he ran all of the IT infrastructure for a five thousand student private university.

Once he joined Cisco in 1997 Tim achieved his first CCCIE after 3 weeks of study when he was 23. In the late ‘90s he worked with the biggest banks on the west coast doing infrastructure security and architecture. He also designed the first large private MPLS network in the country that LA County subsequently deployed to share common infrastructure while maintaining security between agencies.

During the early 2000s Tim began building least privilege architectures using proprietary Cisco technologies and then changing to 802.1x based designs as it became a standard. He moved on to become a founding member of Cisco’s first dedicated customer facing security team and designed one of the first IPSec VPN WAN replacements with a customer that deployed over 1,000 sites. While working in that role he also passed his CISSP exam.

During his time on that team and in subsequent roles he worked with some of the first non-AV based EPP agents, early SOAR and event correlation solutions, and was a field advisor to the Cisco business units on security acquisition targets.

In the last 5 years Tim has served in a variety of leadership roles focused on assisting public sector customers in the Pacific Northwest. He left Cisco in 2017 in order to be able to focus on security and cloud solutions because no single vendor can cover everything a customer needs to consider.

Tim has extensive experience working with customers in many industry verticals and of all shapes and sizes. He possesses excellent communications skills and can bring multiple teams together to work towards common organizational goals.
